2008 Winterfest

Larry Gnewikow, Amana Society Forester, demonstrates how to properly use an old-fashioned cross-cut saw. Teresa Sly-Albert and Kristie Wetjen try the cross-cut log sawing while Larry Gnewikow and Gerard Reyes look on. Joel Huebner demonstrates how to use a spinning wheel at Henry’s Village Market during their Spinning & Knitting Circle.
Ice Sculptors show off their work. Ice Sculptors show off their work. Kathi Huebner demonstrates how to turn angora fibers into yarn at Henry’s Village Market during their Spinning & Knitting Circle.
The Freestyle Best Beard & Mustache Competition drew a number of very attractive entrees, including those in this picture. Joel Huebner models his beard for the judges of the Freestyle Best Beard & Mustache Contest. Judges were Becky Tranter, representing the American Business Women’s Association; Susan Gordan, Marketing and Promotions Director for Clear Channel Radio and Cathy Lockwood from the Cedar Rapids Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. Carl Bodenbender and Jeff Gipple tied in the Freestyle Best Beard & Mustache Competition. Carl initially grew his mutton-chops out for his role in A Christmas Carol at the Old Creamery Theatre, then decided to keep growing them when he heard about the competition. Jeff, who works outside a great deal, grows a full beard every winter.
